Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hi, I’m Amanda the founder of The School of Mindful Healing where I offer mindfulness and spiritual wellbeing courses, workshops, programmes, treatments and events. I set the school up in 2020 following on from running a beauty business and the Bexley Therapist Directory. There has always been a strong spiritual connection from a young age, and the practice of mindfulness came along a bit later. This was to benefit my life in so many ways, from feeling calmer and focused to feeling less stressed and able to manage situations better.

My passion to teach the practice of mindfulness and spiritual wellbeing followed on from my own challenges with my own health and wellbeing. Recognising the benefits within myself, inspired me to share my studies and experience with others.

Seeing the change in people is one of the most rewarding experiences. Knowing that you can share information, tools and practices to people that may feel a sense of feeling lost, stressed or suffer with anxiety, gives a sense of purpose that what you are doing brings reconnection, growth and support to someone’s life.

What is mindfulness and why is it so important to practice it?

Mindfulness is a practice that encourages paying deliberate attention to the present moment with ourselves, the environment and within our surroundings. When we acknowledge any thoughts or feelings that arise, we observe them with no judgement or attachment but simply allow space to react and respond in a calm and more positive way reducing the overthinking mind. One of the practical elements we cover in our mindfulness workshop is the practice of breathwork and being guided through a mindful meditation that encourages presence, stillness, calmness and relaxation. We are always on a continuous journey of learning, understanding and growing from our own challenges in life. This is one of the important aspects of working with a client’s individual needs.

How is mindfulness connected to general health and wellbeing?

Our general health and wellbeing are generally affected when we worry, feel stressed or suffer with anxiety. Mindfulness helps reduce stress and anxiety, creating a clearer focus for concentration and making more positive decisions. As with any practice we learn it that takes time, patients and perseverance. The benefits can bring more joy and fulfilment to your life improving understanding and acceptance of challenges that cross our paths.

 Can mindfulness benefit physical health?

Yes. As mindfulness helps emotional regulation, we reduce the physical tension and stress we hold within the body. By effectively managing stress and anxiety, the practice of mindfulness can contribute to pain management, better sleep, lowering blood pressure and gastrointestinal digestion. The mindfulness workshop and programme offers self-regulation tools to encourage better physical health and being aware of what you can manage.

Where can we find out more about mindfulness?

Our mindfulness workshop offers both theory and practical elements and from January 2026 the workshop will be available within the community over a period of 5 sessions. This encourages time and space in between sessions to carry out your mindfulness practice. If you are looking to incorporate mindfulness with a spiritual practice, our Mindfulness Wellbeing Programme offers a more in-depth experience.
